Comrade Raja Ram Singh Acquitted in False Case; CPI (ML) Welcomes Verdict

Comrade Raja Ram Singh, leader of the CPI (ML) and head of its parliamentary group, along with 28 other party activists, were acquitted today in a case filed by Bihar Police in 2012, which the party has described as a significant victory for justice.

Raja Ram Singh had come under police oppression while leading a public protest against the murder of Chhotu Singh Kushwaha, the head of Sonhatu Panchayat in Haspura block. The other 28 activists were also imprisoned on false charges at that time.

The Bihar Human Rights Commission had held the state government guilty in this case in 2013 and had ordered compensation of ₹1 lakh for Raja Ram Singh. Today’s acquittal is being seen as a legal setback for the Nitish-Modi “double-engine” government’s alleged police repression and administrative retaliation.

CPI (ML) stated that the verdict is not only a victory for Raja Ram Singh but also sends a strong message against the ongoing false cases and oppression of marginalized and struggling citizens.

The party also highlighted that recently, Comrade Jitendra Paswan, Bihar president of the Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA), was convicted in a false case by the Gopalganj District Court, while Comrade Manoj Manzil, MLA from Agiyanav (SC) seat in Bhojpur, was disqualified from the assembly in 2024 over similar fabricated cases.

The CPI (ML) central committee said that this judicial victory will strengthen the fight for freedom and justice for millions of marginalized and struggling citizens across India.
