SDPI’s 6th National Representative Council to Be Held in Mangaluru on January 20–21, Key Decisions Expected on Organisational Direction and Political Strategy

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has announced that its apex representative body, the 6th National Representative Council (NRC), will be held on January 20 and 21, 2026, in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The two-day council is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s organisational and political direction.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Monday, senior SDPI leaders said that delegates from across the country will participate in the council, reflecting the party’s national presence and its commitment to internal democratic practices.

The leaders stated that one of the key agenda items of the council will be the election of a new National Working Committee and its office-bearers, who will lead the party during the forthcoming term. The council will also present the party’s term report, which will include a detailed account of organisational expansion, political activities, and interventions related to public concerns. The report will be followed by in-depth discussions and deliberations.

Briefing the media, SDPI leaders said that the council will undertake a comprehensive review of the prevailing political situation in the country and engage in serious deliberations on the party’s political line, outlook, and future strategy. These discussions aim to further strengthen the party’s political role at the national level and advance its agenda of social justice, constitutional values, and inclusive politics.

Emphasising the significance of the event, the leaders said that the 6th National Representative Council marks an important milestone for SDPI, reaffirming the party’s commitment to democratic processes, social justice, and amplifying the voices of marginalised communities.

Those who addressed the press conference included Mohammed Ilyas Thumbe (National General Secretary), Riyaz Farangipete (National Secretary), Puttananjayya (Karnataka State Vice President), and Afser Kodlipete (Karnataka State General Secretary).
