Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday clarified that the organisation has no political agenda and warned that seeing it solely through the lens of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be a grave mistake. Speaking at the RSS 100 Vyakhyan Mala programme held as part of the centenary celebrations, Bhagwat said that it is incorrect to perceive the Sangh as a political party or merely another service organisation.
Bhagwat explained that the primary aim of the RSS is the welfare and protection of Hindu society. The organisation works to nurture morally upright and virtuous individuals, or sajjan, who contribute to national pride and the country’s development. He acknowledged that while the Sangh’s growth may impact the interests of some, the organisation itself does not consider anyone its enemy.
“RSS is often misunderstood. Many people know the name but do not understand its work. The organisation focuses solely on the upliftment of Hindu society and holds no animosity towards anyone,” Bhagwat said. He further cautioned against unnecessarily linking politics with the RSS and stressed that it is wrong to view the organisation exclusively from a BJP perspective.
