Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has categorically rejected the allegations made by Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who linked him to the Shilpi-Gautam murder case. Samrat Chaudhary described the claims as politically motivated and asserted that he has no connection to the case.

Prashant Kishor, during a press conference held in Patna on Monday, claimed that Samrat Chaudhary, also known as Rakesh Kumar, had emerged as a suspected accused in the Shilpi-Gautam murder case. Kishor also challenged Chaudhary to publicly clarify his position on the matter.

Responding strongly, Samrat Chaudhary said, “That Rakesh was just an ice-cream vendor from Hajipur. Where is this (Prashant Kishor) getting such ideas from? The CBI conducted a full investigation into the Shilpi-Gautam case. We weren’t even aware, and these people don’t know anything about Bihar.”

The case dates back to July 3, 1999, when two partially naked bodies were recovered from a car in a government quarter garage located on Fraser Road, Patna. One of the victims was Shilpi Jain, a student of Patna Women’s College and former Miss Patna. The other victim was Gautam Singh, associated with the youth wing of the RJD and known to have connections with several political leaders. The CBI investigated the matter but filed a closure report, considering it a case of suicide.

Samrat Chaudhary further referred to Prashant Kishor as a “novice leader,” adding that eventually, the public will hold everyone accountable and re-elect the NDA government.

Meanwhile, the Jan Suraj Party has submitted a memorandum to the Governor, demanding action against Samrat Chaudhary.

This issue could open a new political front in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, with both sides continuing their cycle of accusations and counter-accusations.
