Politics heats up over lathicharge on TRE 4.0 candidates in Patna; AIMIM and Azad Samaj Party corner government

Political reactions have intensified after police action on candidates protesting for the release of the TRE 4.0 teacher recruitment notification in Bihar. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) strongly condemned the lathicharge and accused the Bihar government of suppressing the voices of youth.

AIMIM national spokesperson Advocate Adil Hasan Azad said that lakhs of youth in Bihar have been waiting for the teacher recruitment process for several years, but the government has repeatedly delayed the notification, which amounts to injustice to students’ futures. He said that in a democracy, peaceful protest is every citizen’s constitutional right, and the government should have engaged in dialogue with the students instead of using police force against them.

He alleged that lakhs of teaching posts are lying vacant in the state, yet instead of speeding up recruitment, the government is disappointing the candidates. AIMIM demanded immediate release of the TRE 4.0 notification, special relaxation in age limits for candidates, a high-level probe into the lathicharge, compensation for the injured students, and urgent dialogue between the government and student representatives.

On the other hand, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) Bihar state vice president Aftab Alam described the police action as “unjust and shameful,” saying that using force against youth demanding employment reflects the insensitivity of the government. He said this is not just an issue of teacher recruitment, but a matter concerning the dreams of poor, backward, Dalit, minority, and working-class families.

Aftab Alam alleged that unemployment is continuously rising in Bihar, but the government has failed to ensure job creation and a transparent recruitment process. Instead of providing jobs, students are being subjected to repression for protesting.

The Azad Samaj Party also demanded immediate release of the TRE 4.0 notification, relaxation in age limits, action against officials involved in the lathicharge, free medical treatment and compensation for injured students.

Both parties stated that they stand with students, youth, and unemployed candidates in their democratic struggle and urged the government to immediately hold talks with student representatives to resolve the issue.
