After Becoming Rajya Sabha Member, Nitish Kumar Resigns as MLC; Samrat Chaudhary Strongest Contender for CM, Ram Kripal Yadav Also in Talks, Two JDU Deputy CMs Possible Including Nishant Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has resigned from his position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). This step became mandatory after he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, with his term set to begin on April 10. Following his resignation, the race for the Chief Minister’s post in Bihar has officially begun. Political analysts suggest that BJP Deputy Chief Minister and legislative party leader Samrat Chaudhary is the strongest contender for the position.

Samrat Chaudhary’s name is prominent because he is a key leader of the Kushwaha community, Bihar’s second-largest backward caste. This could help the BJP strengthen its OBC equation, and Chaudhary is also considered a preferred candidate by Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, is also being discussed as a potential Deputy Chief Minister. JDU leaders have reportedly accepted him as Nitish’s political successor. The new government may have two Deputy Chief Ministers – one being Nishant Kumar and the other from either the Swarna or Muslim community.

Additionally, BJP minister Ram Kripal Yadav is also among the potential candidates. His influence within the Yadav community makes him an important political figure in the state.

Analysts predict that in the coming days, the Governor will receive the letter for government formation, after which the names of the new Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers will be officially announced. This political shift signals a fresh wave of activity in Bihar’s political landscape.
