NEET Aspirant Death Case: Samrat Choudhary Challenges Rabri Devi to Name the Accused, Says “Arrest Within 24 Hours”

The death of a student preparing for the NEET examination in Bihar has taken on a political dimension. Responding to allegations made by former Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary has categorically asked her to publicly disclose the name if any minister or a minister’s son is involved in the case.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Samrat Choudhary said that if the allegations are proven, the arrest of the concerned individual would be ensured within 24 hours. He asserted that the government is serious about the investigation and that no culprit will be spared, regardless of how influential they may be.

Questioning Rabri Devi’s statement, the Deputy Chief Minister said that making such allegations without concrete evidence is not only irresponsible but also an attempt to influence the investigation process. He added that if the opposition has any credible information, it should be presented before the investigating agencies.

Earlier, Rabri Devi had termed the death of the NEET aspirant as suspicious and levelled serious allegations against the Bihar government. She claimed that there was an attempt to cover up the case and suggested that an influential person, possibly a minister or his son, could be involved. She also raised questions over police action and the conduct of the administration.

According to available information, the NEET aspirant was found unconscious in a hostel in Patna and later died during treatment. The family has described the death as suspicious, demanding a fair and impartial probe, and has also expressed apprehensions of sexual assault.

Amid growing pressure over the case, the state government has recommended that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Meanwhile, the opposition alleges that several crucial questions in the case remain unanswered so far.

Following Samrat Choudhary’s challenge, political sparring in the state has intensified. While the government is claiming strict action, the opposition is demanding transparency and accountability in the matter.

The death of the NEET aspirant has now gone beyond the scope of a routine criminal investigation and has emerged as a significant issue linked to law and order and political accountability in Bihar.
