NCHRO wrote to the Delhi Commission for Women regarding case of molestation and assault on domestic worker in Delhi

In Delhi’s Maidangarhi, a family allegedly stripped and assaulted their 43-year-old domestic worker. Police said the family had claimed jewellery and cash had been stolen from their house, and they called a ‘tantrik baba’ (occultist) to find out who among their employees had allegedly committed theft in the house. After this, the family beat up the woman. The woman later attempted suicide by consuming rat poison, but was saved at a hospital. The doctors also found bruises on her bodyAgainst this incident, human rights organisation the National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) wrote a letter to the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women. The letter was written by the Vice President of the Delhi chapter of NCHRO, Ms Swati Sinha.In her letter to the DCW, a fair trial and compensation to the victim has been demanded by Ms. Swati Sinha.She has also stated that domestic workers are already in a very vulnerable condition and do not have any of the workers’ rights, and has urged the DCW to intervene in the matter.
