The organisation also demanded the arrest of the culprit in a memorandum submitted to the DCP, South DelhiOn the night of March 25, 2021, Azeem Naved, the general secretary of the National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations, intervened into a fight in which some people were beating up an innocent guy. After his intervention, the people beat up Azeem Naved and attacked him with a knife.Azeem was taken to the Holi Family hospital by his peers for first aid. Currently, he is admitted in the trauma centre of AIIMS hospital. It is notable that the police has charged the culprits under very mild sections and has not invoked section 307, even though Azim is in critical condition and the attack was done with a lethal weapon. Moreover, the police has written in the FIR that no eye-witness has come forward, even though the witness had given his statement to the police officially and also took the victim to the hospital.Against the incident, the NCHRO filed a complaint in the National Human Rights Commission. The complaint was filed on March 26, 2021, by the President of its Delhi Committee, Adv. Amit Srivastav.Alongside the complaint, a memorandum was also submitted by Adv. Amit Srivastav demanding immediate action against the culprits who beat up Azeem Naved. We have urged the NHRC in our complaint to look into the matter and that they be charged with appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code.
