Insaaf Times Desk

A major shift has been observed in the political equations of Sahebpur Kamal Assembly constituency in Begusarai district. Senior JDU leader and social activist Mr. Mohammad Abdullah filed his nomination papers on Thursday on behalf of the Jan Suraj movement. Prior to filing, he was officially handed the party symbol by Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishor.

Mohammad Abdullah has a long association with the Railway Board (Sonpur Division). He has previously served as a member of the Bihar State Minority Commission and currently holds a position in the district 20-member committee under the JDU quota. He has also served as the Mukhiya of Balia Lakhminia Panchayat-3, and is considered to have a strong grassroots presence in local politics.

Speaking to the media after filing his nomination, Abdullah said “I have dedicated my entire political life serving the underprivileged, Dalits, and minorities while being part of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party. But today, the same JDU is aligned with BJP, a party opposed to minority interests. Jan Suraj represents the true people’s power, and this time, the people of Sahebpur Kamal will bring change.”

Abdullah has more than two decades of political experience, spanning from Panchayat level to state commissions:

2001: Elected Mukhiya, Balia Lakhminia Panchayat-3

2006–2011: Panchayat Ward Parishad member

2009–2012: Member, Bihar State Minority Commission

2012–2015: Reappointed as Member

2015–2016: Third term as Member of the Commission

2016: Resigned collectively from commissions

2005–Present: Active role in JDU organizational work

Current: Member of District 20-Member Committee

With the Jan Suraj ticket and nomination in place, Sahebpur Kamal constituency has turned into a three-cornered contest. At the local level, Abdullah is seen as a leader who rises above caste and religion, focusing on development and social justice.

The atmosphere among Jan Suraj workers and supporters is highly enthusiastic. A large number of people were present alongside Abdullah during the nomination process. Expressing gratitude to his supporters, he said “This fight is not for power, it is for respect and justice. This time, Sahebpur Kamal will speak — the voice of the people’s Jan Suraj.”
