Mob Brutality in Madhubani: Roshan Khatoon Tied to a Pole and Beaten While Seeking Justice, Dies During Treatment

A tragic incident of mob violence has come to light in Bihar’s Madhubani district, where a Muslim woman, Roshan Khatoon, was allegedly brutally beaten by a mob after she went to seek justice over a local dispute. The severely injured woman later died during treatment. The incident has sparked anger and tension in the area.

According to information, the incident took place in Amhi village under the Ghoghardiha police station area of the district. Local residents said that Roshan Khatoon had approached a panchayat representative to seek a resolution to an ongoing dispute in the village. During this time, some people present there allegedly began assaulting her.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the attackers tied Roshan Khatoon to a pole and beat her mercilessly. Several villagers were reportedly present at the scene, and the assault continued for a considerable period. She sustained critical injuries in the attack.

Family members and locals said that Roshan Khatoon was admitted to a hospital for treatment, where her condition continued to deteriorate, and she eventually died.

Some eyewitnesses and social media posts have also claimed that Roshan Khatoon was observing a fast (roza) at the time of the attack and had asked for water due to thirst. However, police officials said these claims have not yet been verified and the investigation is ongoing.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the case. According to officials, the son of the village head (mukhiya) has been detained for questioning, and efforts are underway to identify other people involved in the incident.

A police officer said that the case is being investigated from all angles and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

The incident triggered outrage in the area soon after the news spread. Local residents and social activists have demanded a fair investigation and the swift arrest of all accused.

Considering the situation, the administration has deployed additional police forces in the village. Officials said surveillance has been intensified to maintain law and order, and statements of witnesses are being recorded.

Roshan Khatoon’s death has once again raised serious concerns about mob violence in rural areas and the safety of vulnerable communities who approach local authorities seeking justice.
