Naxalite Explosives Seized in Jamui, Major Success for Security Forces

Security forces, including Jamui Police, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Muzaffarpur Police, achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxalite operations. On Saturday, during a ‘de-mining’ operation, the joint team recovered a large cache of explosives and weapons from a forested area.

According to police, based on a confidential tip-off, the team conducted a search operation in the Dhodparan forest area, about 10 kilometers from Simultala. During the search, suspicious metallic items were found in an old sack near Patwa Nala. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Pradeep Kumar Barman, who led the team to successfully seize all materials.

Items recovered include

1 locally made musket (long barrel)

3 detonators

Approximately 700 grams of ammonium nitrate

4 Neogel sticks

1 eight-mm cartridge

2 twelve-bore cartridges

5 twelve-bore shells

5 locally made grenade bombs

For safety reasons, the explosives were safely destroyed on-site in the forest. Other recovered materials were taken to Simultala police station. The police are conducting detailed chemical analysis of the explosives. The operation involved three personnel from SSB, Jamui Police, and Muzaffarpur BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad).

Police officials noted that in February 2025, 45 kilograms of white gunpowder had also been recovered from the same forest area. This substance is highly flammable and ignites quickly when exposed to air.

Experts say that such ‘de-mining’ operations are crucial in Naxal-affected areas to ensure public safety and prevent potential large-scale incidents.
