Love Triangle Turns Violent in Gaya: Police Drivers Open Fire Over Woman Constable, One Critically Injured, Accused Arrested

In Bihar’s Gaya district, a dispute involving a woman police constable inside the police department escalated into violence on Saturday. A shooting incident took place between two police vehicle drivers in the Civil Lines थाना area, leaving a government driver from Kotwali police station critically injured. The accused private driver has been arrested following swift police action.

According to police sources, the root cause of the conflict is believed to be a suspected love affair involving a woman police constable. Tension had reportedly been brewing for several days between a private driver associated with Paraiya police station and the government driver from Kotwali police station, which gradually escalated.

Ambush Firing in the Morning

As per information, on Saturday morning in the Pita Maheshwar locality under Civil Lines police station area, the accused driver allegedly ambushed the victim and opened fire. The accused used a country-made pistol (desi katta), and the bullet struck the upper part of the driver’s chest.

Despite being seriously injured, the victim managed to reach Kotwali police station and informed the police about the incident. Acting promptly on the information, police reached the spot and arrested the accused.

Hospitalised in Critical Condition

The injured driver was first taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Due to his critical condition, he was later referred to Magadh Medical College Hospital. Doctors have described his condition as serious and under continuous observation.

Weapon Recovered, Investigation Underway

Police have recovered a country-made firearm from the spot. City SP Kota Kiran Kumar said that preliminary investigation suggests the case is linked to a love triangle and personal enmity, but all angles are being thoroughly examined.

Police are also investigating how the illegal weapon came into the accused’s possession and whether any other individuals were involved in the incident.

Questions Raised Over Departmental Discipline

The incident has raised serious concerns about internal discipline within the police department. A personal dispute escalating into a violent shooting inside the force has triggered debate over workplace conduct and oversight.

Police have assured a detailed investigation into the entire matter and strict action against those found responsible.
