Jan Suraaj Protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar: Demand Intensifies for SIT Probe, Compensation and Job in Pandav Murder Case

The case of the alleged murder of a Bihar youth named Pandav turned Jantar Mantar in the national capital into the center of a major protest on Sunday. The Jan Suraaj Party, along with the victim’s family, staged a peaceful sit-in protest demanding an independent investigation, compensation, and a government job for the family.

The demonstration, which began around 1 PM, saw a large participation of people originally from Bihar living in Delhi. According to the party, the gathering was a show of public support beyond political affiliations, driven purely by the demand for justice.

Incidents of humiliation and violence against Biharis are alarming”: Vivek Kumar

Addressing the protest, Jan Suraaj Party spokesperson Vivek Kumar said that despite a large population of Biharis in Delhi, they continue to face humiliation, exploitation, and violence. He alleged that Pandav’s murder is not just an isolated incident but reflects a deeper social issue.

He further stated that a dispute allegedly involving a Delhi Police head constable over identity led to Pandav’s killing, raising serious questions about the safety of migrants in the capital.

Three key demands raised

Party leaders Anup Mathil and Aditya Mohan put forward three main demands:

1.The case should be investigated by an independent SIT instead of Delhi Police

2.The victim’s family should be given ₹1 crore compensation

3.One member of the family should be provided a government job

They also said that the response from the administration and political leadership after the incident lacked adequate sensitivity.

Contribution of Biharis but concerns over safety”: Akshat Sonk

Jan Suraaj Party spokesperson Akshat Sonk said that Bihari workers and youth are making significant contributions across the country, yet incidents of discrimination and violence against them continue to surface. He said the issue is no longer limited to one state or city but has become a matter of national concern.

Memorandum submitted to administration

After the protest, a delegation from the party met officials and formally submitted a memorandum of demands. Several party members including Vivek Kumar, Anup Mathil, Aditya, Shantanu, Dheeru Mishra, Chandrjeet, Akshat, Dhanraj, Richa, Prabhat, Ritesh, and Harendra were present.

The protest concluded peacefully, though the leaders warned that the movement would continue if their demands are not met.
