Against the backdrop of Bihar’s evolving political landscape, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation has called for building a broad-based public resistance against the BJP-led government in the state. The party’s 12th Bihar State Conference is scheduled to be held from May 16 to 18, 2026, at the Laheriasarai Auditorium in Darbhanga.

In its appeal issued ahead of the conference, the party sharply raised issues such as “bulldozer rule,” corporate land acquisition, unemployment, attacks on minorities, and what it described as a growing threat to democratic rights. With the slogan, “Stay United, Intensify the Struggle for Justice and Rights,” the CPI(ML) described the conference as a decisive political moment for Bihar.

The party alleged that since the emergence of a new BJP-led political arrangement in Bihar, repressive actions against Dalits, the poor, and minorities have intensified. In its statement, CPI(ML) claimed that “bulldozer actions, selective encounters, mob lynching, and repression of students and youth” are being normalized as part of administrative governance.

The party also accused the state government of favoring large corporate groups. According to CPI(ML), the allocation of land to the Adani Group in Bhagalpur and proposed land acquisition for satellite township projects in several districts pose a serious threat to farmers and rural communities. The party argued that such projects could deepen the crises of displacement, agriculture, and rural employment.

Issues related to employment, contractual workers, social security, and salary-pension concerns of government employees are also expected to dominate the conference discussions. The party claimed that a large number of employees in the state have been facing delays and difficulties in receiving salaries and pensions over the past several months.

Referring to Mithila’s historical political legacy, CPI(ML) stated that the land of Darbhanga would once again send out a message of democracy and social justice. The conference venue has been named “Renu-Nagarjun Nagar,” while the auditorium halls have been dedicated to Rajaram, Ramdev Verma, and Laxmi Paswan.

At the open session on May 16, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya will be the keynote speaker. Bihar Assembly Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and several leaders from the INDIA alliance are also expected to participate.

Political observers believe the conference is not merely an organizational gathering, but a significant attempt to sharpen anti-BJP politics in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Discussions are also likely to focus on opposition unity and strategies for expanding mass movements in the state.
