Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme: Bihar Government Announces Financial Aid of Up to ₹2.10 Lakh for Women’s Economic Empowerment

The Bihar government has taken a significant step towards women’s economic empowerment. Under the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme, every family in the state will be eligible to receive financial assistance of up to ₹2.10 lakh to help a woman start her own business.

Key Features of the Scheme

First Installment: Women will receive an initial installment of ₹10,000 directly in their bank accounts starting September 2025 to kickstart their enterprise.

Additional Support: After six months of starting the business, an assessment will be conducted, and additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh may be provided based on requirements.

Development of Haat-Bazaars: Haat-bazaars (local markets) will be developed from villages to cities to facilitate the sale of women’s products.

Objective of the Scheme

The primary aim of the scheme is to provide women with self-employment opportunities, increase household income, curb migration, and make Bihar self-reliant. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar described this initiative as a major step towards women’s empowerment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar.

Age should be between 18 and 50 years.

Applicants must be associated with a Mahila Jeevika Group.

Application Process

Women can apply online through the official Jeevika website www.brlps.in. Required documents include Aadhaar card, bank account details, passport-size photograph, and scanned signature.
