National Women’s Front demands stringent measures to be taken by the government to
safeguard the lives of scheduled castes and scheduled tribe

According to a report by the parliamentary committee on internal affairs, Women and children accounted for 15.73 percent of the 1,31,430 criminal cases registered under the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes prevention act between 2017 and 2019. As per the report the number of atrocities against women and children in the community has increased by 15.55 percent over the past three years. Also the report says that only 26.86 percent of the convicted are punished and the remaining 84.09 percent cases are pending and are under trial. It is evident from the report that the prevention of atrocities act is only a written statement and is not practically put into practice. Though the government has various schemes and policies for the development of this community, which is mainly dependent on forests for their livelihood, due to lack of practical implementation of their policies have led to the backwardness of this community in all the fields that is educationally, economically, socially and politically. The so called upper class of the society use these people for their political needs and discard them when their purpose is served. the increase of violence on the women and children of the scheduled castes is due to the poor implementation of the current laws and the biased attitude of law enforcement agencies. the accused belonging to a powerful community is let free and on the other hand a case is filed on the victim himself. On the one hand, the corporate class are creating a shelterless situation to this community in fulfilling their selfish needs similarly, the other hand upper castes who have strong faith in the caste system are pushing into slavery by raping and degrading women of the lower castes and tribal women in order to dominate them.Entry into the temple, use of public roads, the cows of the lower castes entering the fence of the upper class of the society and many more such silly reasons have caused these upper class to take a severe grudge on the women and children of the depressed class. As India is a secular country, the constitution of our country gives here every individual citizen to live with equality. stringent and severe legal action against those who harm it, must be implemented without any discrimination.
