Political heat over NEET UG paper leak and allegations of violence in Bengal: SDPI’s Sadiya Saida and Ya Muhyuddin demand impartial investigation

Amid controversies on both educational and political fronts in the country, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has expressed serious concern over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak and incidents of alleged communal violence in West Bengal after the elections. The party has demanded an impartial investigation in both matters, strict action against those responsible, and reforms in the system.

Questions raised on the examination system due to paper leak

In a statement, SDPI National Secretary Sadiya Saida said that after large-scale paper leaks and the exposure of organized cheating rackets, the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 has highlighted serious flaws in the country’s examination system. She described it as a “systemic failure” of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the central government.

The statement said that more than 2.2 million students across the country appeared for the exam after years of hard work, financial struggle, and mental stress, but the paper leak has pushed their future into uncertainty and despair.

SDPI alleged that repeated paper leaks and irregularities in examinations clearly indicate deep-rooted corruption and negligence in the examination system, which has now become a serious crisis. The party demanded a time-bound and transparent investigation into the matter and strict action against those found guilty.

Allegations of violence in West Bengal

On the other hand, party National Secretary Ya Muhyuddin expressed concern over alleged communal violence and attacks in West Bengal following the election results. He alleged that certain elements in the state are trying to promote political polarization and violence.

According to the statement, reports from various districts suggest that religious places, minority communities, and their properties were targeted under the guise of victory processions. The party referred to several incidents, including the killing of a panchayat member in Hooghly, and described it as a “serious pattern of post-election violence.”

SDPI also claimed that between May 4 and May 7, dozens of violent incidents were reported across several districts, including attacks on houses and shops and damage to religious sites.

Demand for impartial investigation

The party has demanded independent and impartial investigations in both matters and said that strict action should be taken against those responsible. SDPI warned that if concrete steps are not taken in time, it will not only affect the future of students but also have a negative impact on social harmony.
