SDPI termed the 13-day detention of 167 innocent children in Katni a “blatant violation of human rights,” questioned the Bihar government’s silence; also said on the rising state debt, “₹100 crore interest every day—Bihar is moving towards destruction, not development.”

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government and other concerned administrative authorities over two serious issues at once. The party’s Bihar state General Secretary, Dr. Rizwan Mazhari, termed the alleged detention of 167 children in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, as a “blatant violation of human rights.” At the same time, he expressed deep concern over the state’s financial condition, calling the rising debt “a sign of an impending economic crisis.”

Katni case: “Inhumane treatment of innocent children”

According to SDPI, 167 children from Bihar, who were traveling to Maharashtra for madrasa education, have been held in Katni (Madhya Pradesh) for the past 13 days. Reacting to this, Dr. Mazhari said that detaining children for such a long period without solid grounds is not only unconstitutional but also a serious injustice to their mental and educational future.

Questioning the administrative action, he said that even if an investigation was necessary, keeping children “like prisoners” for so many days is beyond justification. He also raised concerns over the “silence” of the Bihar government and demanded immediate intervention at the Chief Minister’s level.

The party has demanded that the central and Madhya Pradesh governments ensure the immediate release of the children, their safe passage to their destination, and strict action against the responsible officials. SDPI warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, it will launch large-scale democratic protests and take the matter to the National Human Rights Commission and child rights bodies.

Bihar’s debt: “₹100 crore interest daily, development under question

Alongside this, SDPI also made serious allegations regarding Bihar’s economic condition. Dr. Mazhari claimed that the state government is paying around ₹100 crore daily just as interest on debt, which is adversely affecting development work.

He said the government’s development model is “debt-driven and hollow,” where loans are being taken in the name of infrastructure, but no concrete steps are visible toward job creation and sustainable economic reform. According to him, the issue of migration in the state remains unchanged.

SDPI also accused the government of corruption and wasteful expenditure, demanding that a detailed white paper on Bihar’s financial condition be released so that the public can understand the real situation.

Political message and future strategy

By raising both issues, SDPI has clearly indicated that it will run awareness campaigns on these matters in the coming days. The party stated that “it is essential to ensure government accountability” on issues such as children’s rights and the state’s economic stability.

As of now, no official response has come from the Bihar government or the concerned administration regarding these allegations.
