Nitish’s trusted aide Shravan Kumar becomes JD(U) Legislative Party leader; experienced and senior leaders continue to receive consistent recognition within the party.

A major political development has emerged in Bihar. The Janata Dal (United) has appointed senior leader and former minister Shravan Kumar as the new leader of its legislative party. With this decision, political activity has intensified across both the government and organizational levels in the state.

According to party sources, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was earlier authorized to take the final decision in the JD(U) legislative party meeting. Following this, Nitish Kumar gave the final approval to the name of his most trusted and experienced leader, Shravan Kumar.

Shravan Kumar is considered one of Nitish Kumar’s most trusted leaders. He has been a long-time MLA from Nalanda and has been elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly for eight consecutive terms since 1995. He has been associated with Nitish Kumar since the Samata Party era.

Political analysts believe that Shravan Kumar has played a crucial role in maintaining coordination between the party organization and the government. He has also handled important ministries such as Rural Development several times.

“I will discharge my responsibility with honesty”

After being elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislative party, Shravan Kumar stated that he will fulfill the responsibility assigned to him by national president Nitish Kumar with full honesty and dedication.

Speculations about Deputy CM post

In recent times, there were strong speculations that Shravan Kumar might be made Deputy Chief Minister in the new Bihar government. However, that did not happen. Instead, the party has given him an important organizational role by making him the leader of the legislative party, indicating that JD(U) is currently focusing on strengthening its organizational structure.

The appointment of Shravan Kumar as the legislative party leader is being seen as a strategic move by Nitish Kumar. It also signals that the party will continue to promote trusted and experienced leaders within its ranks.
