Semri,Siwan incident: CPIML’s probe report terms it a “communal conspiracy” stemming from an e-rickshaw dispute; Chandan Singh held responsible for the firing. Demand raised to withdraw cases against innocent villagers and to investigate the role of the police station in-charge.

The five-member inquiry team of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI-ML) has termed the incident near Semri village under Hasanpura police station of Siwan as a conspiracy to incite communal tension, following its investigation. The team stated that several innocent villagers have been falsely implicated in the case and demanded that these cases be withdrawn immediately.

After visiting the site and interacting with local residents, the inquiry team gathered facts and later released its report during a press conference at the district office in Khurmabad. According to the team, the incident began when an e-rickshaw and a Scorpio vehicle brushed against each other. Subsequently, some allegedly feudal, communal, and criminal elements assaulted the e-rickshaw driver.

The report further stated that when youths playing cricket nearby protested against the assault, the accused opened fire on them. At the time of the incident, the attackers were traveling in three vehicles. One of the vehicles managed to flee the spot, while the other two were surrounded by villagers. Upon arrival, the police detained one accused, Chandan Singh.

Three separate FIRs have been registered in the case—one filed by the e-rickshaw driver, another by Chandan Singh, and a third by the police. The CPI-ML inquiry team held Chandan Singh primarily responsible for the firing incident and demanded strict action against him.

The team also leveled serious allegations against the officer-in-charge of Hasanpura police station, claiming that he allegedly provoked the accused. Statements such as “We are Hindus, that is why this is being done to us” were described as attempts to spread communal frenzy.

The party claimed that several innocent individuals have been named in the FIRs, including one person who resides abroad. It demanded a fair investigation by the administration and the immediate withdrawal of false cases.

Those present at the press conference included Amarnath Yadav, Naimuddin Ansari, Sohila Gupta, Vikas Yadav, Umesh Prasad, and Hridaya Yadav, among others.

The CPI-ML has warned that it will strongly oppose any conspiracy aimed at spreading communal tension.
