Sharp Attack by SDPI Secretary Syeda Sadiya on Modi Government: “Strategic Missteps Have Put the Country’s Energy Security at Risk”

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has held the central government responsible for the deepening fuel crisis in the country. The party’s National Secretary Syeda Sadiya said that strategic and diplomatic missteps by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have put India’s energy supply at risk. She added that the impact is now clearly visible on ordinary citizens, small businesses, and the hospitality sector.

In a press statement, Syeda Sadiya said that the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Israel and the signing of extensive military agreements with its government have created tensions in the long-standing strategic relationship between India and Iran. According to her, this shift has weakened India’s traditionally balanced diplomatic approach, affecting the protection of the country’s energy interests at a time when tensions in West Asia are increasing.

She also said that the central government’s silence over reports of the massacre of school children in Iran and the targeted killings of senior Iranian leaders is a matter of serious concern. According to her, this stance reflects a departure from the principles of justice and Non-Aligned Movement, which once guided India’s foreign policy.

The SDPI leader further stated that countries such as Bangladesh have already secured assurances for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, while India has not yet received any clear and official guarantee. As a result, the country’s critical energy supply routes remain vulnerable amid rising geopolitical tensions.

Syeda Sadiya added that the consequences are already visible on the ground. Reports of LPG shortages, panic buying, long queues, and the closure of restaurants and small eateries are emerging from several regions.

The Social Democratic Party of India has urged the central government to immediately review the direction of its foreign policy, take concrete steps to strengthen the country’s energy security, and ensure that the livelihoods of ordinary citizens are not put at risk due to geopolitical alignments.
