UP ATS Arrests Indian Navy Personnel Adarsh Kumar for Espionage for ISI

In a major national security operation, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Agra resident and Indian Navy personnel Adarsh Kumar, alias “Lucky,” on charges of espionage for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, and leaking sensitive information.

According to ATS sources, Kumar was posted at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and allegedly transmitted confidential data related to the Indian Navy and warships to Pakistan through digital platforms. Investigations also revealed that he transferred money from his bank accounts to ISI agents.

How the Case Came to Light

The ATS received intelligence suggesting that a Navy personnel was in contact with foreign intelligence agencies. Following extensive electronic and physical surveillance, authorities scrutinized Kumar’s activities. Digital transactions and online communications indicated that he maintained regular contact with ISI operatives and shared classified information.

Arrest and Investigation

Kumar was arrested from Agra on 10 March 2026 and later presented in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody. The ATS is further probing whether other individuals were involved in the alleged espionage network.

Possible Honeytrap Involvement

Investigating officers suspect that a “honeytrap” tactic may have been employed, wherein foreign agents reportedly used social media and other platforms to lure the personnel through emotional and financial inducements.

Impact on National Security

Experts warn that this case poses a serious threat to India’s security and the strategic capabilities of the Navy. In recent years, several similar incidents have surfaced in which sensitive information was allegedly leaked to Pakistan.
