Gulf War: Israel Pounds Beirut with Intense Strikes as Hezbollah Rains Rockets; Over 500,000 Displaced in Lebanon, Fierce Border Clashes Continue

The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah intensified on Sunday, with both sides launching fresh attacks. The Israeli military carried out airstrikes across several parts of Lebanon, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, while Hezbollah responded with rocket and drone attacks targeting northern and central Israel.

According to eyewitnesses, large plumes of smoke were seen rising from multiple buildings in Dahiyeh, the southern suburb of Beirut, following Israeli strikes. The area is widely considered a stronghold of Hezbollah. The Israeli military said the attacks targeted financial and other facilities linked to the group.

In a separate incident, Israel carried out a drone strike on a hotel room in the coastal Raouche district of Beirut. Lebanese health officials said at least four people were killed and ten others injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah intensified its retaliatory strikes against Israel. Several rockets fired from Lebanon landed in northern and some central parts of Israel, triggering warning sirens in multiple cities and forcing residents to seek shelter.

Clashes are also continuing along the border areas. Hezbollah claimed its fighters were engaged in combat with Israeli troops near the frontier. The Israeli military confirmed that two of its soldiers were killed during fighting in southern Lebanon.

At the same time, the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon is deepening. According to the country’s Ministry of Social Affairs, more than 500,000 people have been displaced since the latest escalation of hostilities. Many of them are currently taking refuge in government shelters, schools, and stadiums.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the country had been dragged into a devastating war that it neither wanted nor chose. He warned that the massive displacement and continued attacks could trigger a severe humanitarian and political crisis for Lebanon.

Analysts say that the increasing bombardment of Beirut, ongoing ground clashes along the border, and continued rocket exchanges between both sides have raised fears that the conflict could expand further.
