Gulf Conflict: 16 Aircraft Destroyed in US-Israeli Airstrikes on Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, City Plunged into Panic Amid Loud Explosions and Towering Flames

Tensions in the Middle East have taken a dramatic turn as US and Israeli air forces launched large-scale airstrikes on Tehran’s main domestic airport, Mehrabad Airport. Explosions and towering flames lit up the city’s skyline throughout the night.

Media reports indicate that the blasts were so powerful that windows rattled across neighborhoods, and fires and smoke were visible in multiple areas. Videos of burning aircraft and thick black smoke over the airport and surrounding districts have gone viral on social media.

The Israeli military stated that over 80 fighter jets participated in the operation, targeting key military installations, weapons depots, and command centers. Around 16 aircraft of the IRGC’s Quds Force stationed at the airport were directly destroyed in the strikes.

Israel says the attack aimed to weaken Iran-backed proxy groups and weapons supply networks. Iran, in response, has warned of a severe retaliation if civilians or borders are targeted.

The White House said the US could achieve its “intended objectives” within 4–6 weeks, suggesting that the conflict could be prolonged.

Analysts warn that the strikes could impact regional security, energy markets, and global politics. Citizens are reportedly fearful, and emergency services across the city remain fully mobilized.
