Woman Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances at Madhepura Station; Two Young Daughters Sat Holding Her Head in Lap, Murder Case Registered

A 25-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the railway station in Madhepura on Tuesday morning, triggering panic in the area. The body was discovered on Platform No. 2, where the woman was lying on a bench, while her two young daughters sat beside her crying.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman’s head was resting in the lap of one child, while the other sat near her feet. Passengers initially assumed she was asleep, but when she showed no movement for a long time and the children continued to cry, people approached and realized she had died.

Upon receiving information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

People present at the scene said the children told them that their father had brought them to the station in an auto-rickshaw and left after laying their mother down. However, police stated that the authenticity of the children’s statements is being verified.

According to police sources, injury marks were found on the woman’s neck, making the case suspicious. Investigators are probing both angles — suicide and homicide. The exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report is received.

Local sources said the deceased was a mother of two daughters and was reportedly pregnant. It is also being reported that she had a dispute with her husband about a month ago and had been living separately since then. Police are examining possible domestic disputes and other angles.

A relative of the deceased has submitted a written complaint alleging that the woman’s alleged lover and his family members were involved in her murder. Based on the complaint, the GRP has registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to the concerned police station for further investigation. Police said all aspects of the case are being examined thoroughly.

The delay in the arrival of family members at the scene for several hours also became a subject of discussion. Meanwhile, the local administration has made arrangements for the care of the two children.

Police reiterated that it will only be clear whether the case is one of suicide or a premeditated murder after the post-mortem report is available.
