A New Career Pathway for Jamia Students: ShED-Forum Organises Career Counselling Programme

With the objective of creating awareness among students and youth associated with Jamia Millia Islamia about employment opportunities and higher education, The ShED-Forum, Jamia Unit organized a one-day career counselling programme on Sunday. The programme, themed “Career Pathways for Graduates: Employment & Higher Studies,” was held at the Zahra Foundation Educational Centre in Batla House and witnessed participation from a large number of students.

Addressing the gathering, ShED-Forum founder and chief speaker Sabnawaz Ahmed said that the organization aims not to confine students merely to obtaining degrees, but to guide them in thinking critically, understanding their potential, and choosing the right career paths. He emphasized that in today’s competitive era, career success requires self-reflection, skill development, and consistent efforts in the right direction.

The chief guest, Tauqeer Alam, urged the youth to become responsible and aware citizens of society. Sharing his experiences related to leadership, public life, and career choices, he said that organized efforts and social consciousness are essential for building a strong future for young people.

Guest of Honour Zubair Alam shared his life experiences and advised students to adopt discipline, continuous hard work, and a spirit of service. He noted that these values form the foundation of any successful and respectable career.

During the programme, documentary filmmaker and KUKU FM Senior Manager Aqdas Sami spoke in detail about emerging opportunities in media, artificial intelligence, creative industries, and higher education. He told students that meaningful and impactful career journeys can begin during college life itself.

Additionally, Shahidullah Sanabili stressed the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement during university life, while Aqib Raza shared important career-related insights based on practical experience.

A question-and-answer session was also held during the programme, where students raised several queries related to their future, employment prospects, and higher education. The participants described the responses given by the speakers as highly useful and inspiring.

The success of the programme was made possible by the collective efforts of The ShED-Forum members, along with the significant contributions of Sohel Akhtar and Moin Alam. The programme was anchored by Masroor, a student of the ShED-Forum Jamia Unit.

At the conclusion of the event, journalist Shoeb Malik Azad thanked all the guests, speakers, and participants, reiterating the commitment to organizing similar guidance-oriented programmes for the benefit of students in the future.
