The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Ameer-e-Shariat of Karnataka, Hazrat Maulana Sagheer Ahmad Rashadi, and renowned thinker and educationist Dr. Mohammad Manzoor Alam. The Board described the passing of both senior figures as an “irreparable loss” to the nation, the community, and the Muslim Personal Law Board.
In a condolence statement, AIMPLB General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi said that Hazrat Maulana Sagheer Ahmad Rashadi was not only a distinguished Islamic scholar in Karnataka but was also highly respected across the country as an eminent religious and social personality. He served as the Rector of the renowned Islamic educational institution Jamia Sabeel-ur-Rashad in Bengaluru and rendered outstanding services as Ameer-e-Shariat of Karnataka.
The General Secretary recalled that just a year ago, under the patronage and gracious hospitality of Maulana Rashadi, the general session of the Muslim Personal Law Board was successfully held at Jamia Sabeel-ur-Rashad, Bengaluru. The excellent arrangements and warm hospitality extended during the session were widely appreciated by all Board members and invited guests. His demise has caused deep shock not only to the Board but also to the nation and the community at large.
Similarly, the AIMPLB termed the demise of another senior founding member of the Board, the founder of the Institute of Objective Studies and noted thinker Dr. Mohammad Manzoor Alam, as a major loss. Maulana Mujaddidi said that by establishing the Institute of Objective Studies, Dr. Manzoor Alam laid the foundation of an outstanding research institution and think tank, which was a critical need of the time. He was also among the founders of the Islamic Fiqh Academy India and the All India Milli Council.
He added that although Dr. Mohammad Manzoor Alam had been seriously ill for the past few days, he remained alert and deeply concerned about important issues related to the nation and the community till his last moments.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board prayed for the forgiveness of both the departed leaders, asking Allah to accept their services, grant them the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus, bestow patience upon their families and associates, and bless the community with worthy successors like them.
