A video showing the brutal assault of an elderly man in Aklera town of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, on January 2, 2026, has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread fear, outrage, and human rights concerns across the country.
The roughly 46-second video shows around 8–10 young men dragging the elderly man to the ground and repeatedly striking him with sticks, rods, and knees. During the attack, the assailants can be heard hurling abusive and inflammatory remarks, labeling him as a “beef eater” and a “Rohingya and Bangladeshi intruder.” The victim is seen pleading for mercy in a weak voice.
Investigations indicate that the attack took place in broad daylight on a public street in Aklera. The video has been shared thousands of times across social media platforms, raising serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement.
As of now, the local police have not issued an official statement or reported any arrests. Meanwhile, activists are demanding immediate action, urging authorities to identify the injured elderly man and file strict charges against the perpetrators.
Rajasthan’s strict beef protection laws have often been linked to incidents of mob violence over alleged beef consumption. Critics argue that such cases of vigilante justice not only undermine the rule of law but also heighten communal tensions and fear among minority communities.
Following the incident, political parties and human rights organizations have strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a failure of governance.
