Violent Attack on Birthday Party in Bareilly ‘Love Jihad’ Allegations Spark Chaos, 5 Arrested, Main Accused on the Run

A birthday party of a nursing student at a café in Bareilly, Uttarpradesh on December 27 turned violent when a group of people allegedly attacked the attendees, accusing them of “love jihad.” So far, police have arrested five accused and taken one minor into custody, while the main accused remains at large.

According to police, the private celebration was held at a café in Rajendra Nagar, attended by the student and her friends, a total of ten young people, including two Muslim men. Around 20–25 suspects reportedly arrived at the venue and created a ruckus, threatening staff and guests, vandalizing property, and raising slogans related to “love jihad.”

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that no illegal or inappropriate activity was taking place at the party. The suspects reportedly became aggressive solely based on religious discrimination. After reviewing CCTV footage, social media videos, and other evidence, police have arrested five young men and taken one minor into protective custody. Multiple charges, including those carrying severe punishments, have been filed in the FIR.

However, the main accused, identified as Rishabh Thakur and Deepak Pathak, remain absconding. Families and victims have appealed to the police to apprehend the remaining suspects quickly.

The café owner said the violence caused significant losses to his business, created fear among customers, and affected operations. The incident has also raised concerns and tension within the local community.

This incident has sparked serious questions about social harmony, youth freedom, and law and order. Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.
