Key Appeal by AIMPLB on Waqf Property Uploading, Urges Mutawallis to Immediately Approach Waqf Tribunals

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has appealed to waqf property managers (mutawallis) across the country to immediately approach their respective state waqf tribunals to ensure the uploading of waqf property details on the Umeed Portal without any delay. The Board said that in several states, approaching the waqf tribunals has yielded positive and encouraging outcomes, including extensions of deadlines, which can serve as a precedent for other states.

In a statement, AIMPLB General Secretary Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi said that six months of additional time has already been granted for uploading waqf property details in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Kerala has been granted a five-month extension, while Telangana and Rajasthan have received three months, and Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh have been given a two-month extension. He described these decisions as significant steps towards the protection of waqf properties.

Maulana Mujaddidi said that mutawallis in states where waqf tribunals have not yet been approached can expect similar positive outcomes if they file applications citing the decisions taken in these states as a basis. He also said that during a recent meeting with Board representatives, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had assured that the government would adopt a realistic and practical approach to the issue of uploading waqf property details and would consider extending the deadlines.

The Board has specifically urged mutawallis, trustees, Muslim organisations and the wider Muslim community in states where extensions have already been granted to make full use of this opportunity and complete the process of uploading waqf property details at the earliest. This, it said, would help avoid any possible penal action under the Umeed Act.

AIMPLB further clarified that the maintenance and protection of waqf properties is not only a legal obligation of mutawallis but also a religious and moral responsibility. The Board appealed to all concerned to act with full vigilance and commitment in discharging their duties and safeguarding waqf properties, so that this collective heritage can be preserved.
