SDPI’s Resounding Victory in Alappuzha Reflects Public Solidarity with Shaheed KS Shan: CPA Latheef

The resounding victory of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in the recent local body elections in Alappuzha district reflects the people’s deep solidarity with Shaheed KS Shan, the party’s State Secretary, said SDPI State President CPA Latheef.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Shaheed KS Shan Memorial Meeting at the Raiban Auditorium in Alappuzha, CPA Latheef said that KS Shan continues to live in the hearts of the people. He added that the electorate is not merely seeking electoral success but is aspiring for the victory of the ideals and values upheld by the slain leader.

Despite all political opponents coming together against SDPI during the local body polls, the party was able to consolidate its base and register a significant electoral success, he said.

CPA Latheef further alleged that in an attempt to defeat SDPI candidates, several political parties, including the Muslim League, had joined hands with the BJP. Such political alignments, he said, raise serious concerns and warrant introspection by secular Kerala regarding the message being conveyed to society.

The meeting was also addressed by SDPI State Vice President Thulasidharan Pallikkal, General Secretary PR Siad, Secretary MM Tahir, Secretariat Member Ajmal Ismail, State Working Committee Members George Mundakkayam and SP Ameer Ali, Women India Movement State Secretary Raihanath Sudheer, SDTU State Committee Member Nasser Purakkad, SDPI District President K Riyas, and District General Secretary M Salim.

Speakers noted that the martyrdom of KS Shan has ignited a renewed political consciousness in Kerala, and that the people of Alappuzha have strongly affirmed this sentiment through the recent election results.
