Major Setback for BSP in Bihar as State In-Charge Anil Kumar Resigns

Following the results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has suffered a major political setback. Bihar state in-charge Anil Kumar has resigned from his position and relinquished his primary membership of the party, citing personal reasons. His sudden decision has stirred activity within the party organization and become a topic of discussion in Bihar’s political circles.

In his resignation letter addressed to party president Mayawati, Anil Kumar stated that due to personal reasons, he is unable to fully contribute to the party’s work. He voluntarily stepped down from the position of Bihar state in-charge as well as from his primary party membership. He also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the support, guidance, and affection he received during his tenure.

Anil Kumar’s resignation is seen as a significant loss for the BSP, especially at a time when the party was already in a weakened position after the assembly elections. According to party sources, a party review meeting was held two days ago, attended by national coordinator Akash Anand, during which questions were raised about Anil Kumar’s working style.

Anil Kumar also revealed that efforts were being made by the ruling party to poach the party’s lone legislator, Satish Yadav. However, the BSP has not yet issued any official response to his resignation. It is expected that the party leadership may soon appoint a new state in-charge for Bihar.

Anil Kumar’s resignation comes at a time when Bihar’s political landscape is shifting with new equations. Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam believes that BSP’s vote share has increased compared to the previous election, and there are still many opportunities for the party in the state.
