“Nitish Government Bets Big on Industry and Employment — First Cabinet Meeting Approves 10 Proposals; Legislative Session Scheduled from December 1 to 5”

After the formation of the new NDA government, the first cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was held on Tuesday at the main secretariat. A total of 10 important proposals were approved. The government sent out a clear message that industrial growth, investment and job creation will remain its top priorities during the upcoming tenure.

According to the decisions taken in the meeting, large-scale industrial infrastructure will be developed across the state. The government has approved the establishment of new industrial clusters and the revival of old industrial zones. Work will be accelerated on major projects including a Defence Corridor, Semiconductor Manufacturing Park, Global Capability Centres, Mega Tech City and FinTech City. Amendments to the startup policy were also approved to strengthen the startup ecosystem, enabling young entrepreneurs to access funding, training and markets more easily.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that 5 million youths (50 lakh) received jobs and employment opportunities between 2020 and 2025, and the government has now set a target to provide employment to 10 million youths (1 crore) between 2025 and 2030. He said that efforts have already begun to transform Bihar into the new technology hub of eastern India, and the state will be developed as a “Global Back-End Hub” and “Global Workplace.”

The cabinet also took a major decision to revive the sugar industry. The government approved a policy for the establishment of new sugar mills and the reopening of closed ones. In the direction of urban development and technological governance, the proposal for the establishment of the Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission was also approved.

To ensure proper implementation of all the schemes, a high-level committee headed by the Chief Secretary has been formed. It will include national and international experts and will submit its report within six months.

The cabinet also approved the proposal to convene the Bihar Legislative Assembly session from December 1 to 5 and forwarded it to the Governor. The session will include the oath-taking of newly elected legislators, the election of the Speaker and the government’s vote of confidence.
