Attack on Dalit Sisters in Patti, Uttar Pradesh; Written Complaint Filed with Police

In a disturbing incident in the Patti region of Uttar Pradesh, two Dalit sisters were allegedly attacked inside their home on Sunday morning around 11 a.m. The victims claim that a young man from their own village entered their house without permission, hurled caste-based abuses, and physically assaulted them. During the attack, the accused reportedly tore the sisters’ clothes and damaged furniture inside the house.

The victims told the police that when they asked the accused to leave, he began verbally abusing them with humiliating remarks and assaulted them. Following the incident, the sisters immediately visited Kandhai police station and filed a written complaint.

Station Head Anil Kumar confirmed receiving the complaint and stated that an investigation has been initiated. “Considering the seriousness of the complaint, we will take legal action,” he said.

Experts note that the incident is not merely a personal dispute but a serious example of caste-based oppression. Cases of atrocities against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh have been on the rise. In such situations, victims are provided protection under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and legal action is pursued to ensure justice.

Local residents and the victims’ family are demanding strict action against the accused and urging authorities to ensure that members of the Dalit community are not subjected to similar attacks in the future.

This incident serves as a test for both the administration and society in safeguarding the rights and security of Dalits and upholding their constitutional protections.
