Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Election Commission Imposes Strict Ban on AI Fake Videos, Model Code of Conduct Enforced

Insaaf Times Desk

Following the announcement of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission has issued strict directives to political parties. The Commission has warned that any attempt to damage the image of rival parties or candidates using fake or synthetic videos generated through Artificial Intelligence (AI) will not be tolerated. Any such violation will invite stringent action.

The Election Commission has made it mandatory for all political parties and candidates to comply with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), effective from October 6, 2025. The Commission clarified that the MCC is not limited to rallies and speeches but also applies to all content shared on social media and the internet.

The Commission has directed all parties, candidates, and star campaigners to clearly label any content that is AI-generated, digitally enhanced, or synthetic. It is mandatory to display such labels on social media posts or advertisements to prevent misleading the voters.

The Election Commission has stated that monitoring on social media platforms has been intensified. Any party or individual spreading misleading or inflammatory content will face immediate action. The Commission has cautioned all parties that any attempt to taint the electoral environment will undermine the sanctity of the democratic process.

Deputy Director of the Election Commission, P. Pawan, stated that the move aims to ensure that the Bihar elections remain free from AI-generated fake videos and false propaganda. The directive is considered a significant step toward ensuring transparent and fair elections in the digital era.

The Commission’s strict guidelines will ensure that political parties focus only on policies, actions, and records while avoiding personal attacks or false propaganda. This step is seen as a crucial initiative to make the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 clean, transparent, and credible.
