Siwan police carried out a major crackdown on Tuesday night, arresting three members of the notorious Rais Khan gang. Authorities recovered an AK‑47, a locally made pistol, double-barrel guns, and a large cache of ammunition from their possession.
Police Superintendent Manoj Tiwari said that following a tip-off, a special team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar‑1) conducted raids in Gyaspur village under Siwan police station jurisdiction. The raids targeted gang members Abdul Kalam Azad, Babu Ali, and Sameena Khatoon, who were allegedly storing weapons at their homes to carry out criminal activities.
During the operation, Abdul Kalam Azad’s house yielded 1 AK‑47 assault rifle, 1 locally made pistol, and a significant quantity of ammunition. Babu Ali’s residence had 1 carbine and more bullets, while Sameena Khatoon’s home contained 2 double-barrel guns and ammunition.
Superintendent Tiwari stated, “The police, in coordination with the STF, have registered separate cases against all three individuals. Legal proceedings and investigations are ongoing.”
This is not the first time the gang’s hideouts have been raided. In September 2025, raids on several Khan brothers’ locations led to the seizure of AK‑47s and other modern weapons. During that operation, Rais Khan and three others were arrested.
Police said the latest arrests will help identify other gang members and dismantle the network involved in illegal arms smuggling. Authorities have also appealed to local residents to report any suspicious activity.
The operation sends a clear message that law enforcement in the state is keeping a sharp eye on criminals, leaving no room for those challenging law and order.
