UGC‑NET December 2025: NTA Opens Online Registration Portal, Apply by November 7

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday officially announced the opening of the online registration portal for the UGC‑NET December 2025 examination. This exam determines the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor appointments, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and Ph.D. admissions in universities and colleges across India.

According to NTA, candidates can submit their online applications from 07 October to 07 November 2025 (until 11:50 PM) through the official website https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Payment of the application fee within this period is also mandatory.

Application Fee

General / Unreserved: ₹1150

EWS / OBC‑NCL: ₹600

SC / ST / PwD: ₹325

Third Gender: As per the relevant category

Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

Candidates’ eligibility will be assessed across 85 subjects.

Exam center, date, and shift details will be mentioned on the admit card.

Instructions for Applicants

Only online applications will be accepted; offline submissions will not be considered.

Each candidate can submit only one application; multiple applications will be rejected.

Candidates must carefully read the Information Bulletin available on the NTA website before applying.

The email address and mobile number provided must belong to the candidate or their parents/guardians, as all communications will be sent via email or SMS.

Purpose of the Exam

The UGC‑NET exam aims to select qualified teachers and researchers for India’s higher education institutions. Eligibility is determined in three categories:

1.For both JRF and Assistant Professor

2.For Assistant Professor only

3.For Ph.D. admission only

NTA stated that information regarding exam city, admit card download, and answer key will be made available later on the official website.
