A New Chapter in Bihar’s Education: 19 New Kendriya Vidyalayas to Bring Quality Education to All 38 Districts

The central government has taken a historic step in Bihar’s education sector by approving the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools) in all 38 districts of the state. Earlier, 53 Kendriya Vidyalayas were operational across 33 districts, but with the approval of 19 new schools, every district in Bihar will now have access to these premier institutions.

On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country, of which 19 will be established in Bihar. These schools are expected to provide high-quality education to around 30,000 students, with over 1,500 teachers to be appointed. The new schools will be set up in districts including Patna, Madhubani, Sheikhpura, Kaimur, Arwal, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Munger, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Katihar, Madhepura, and Bhagalpur.

The Education Department has announced that land will be provided for the construction of permanent buildings for the new schools. In addition, land has also been identified for temporary structures to ensure that students’ studies are not disrupted. Registration and stamp fees have been waived to facilitate the construction and operation of the schools.

Educationist B.N. Prasad described the decision as historic, saying it will help balance the quality of education between rural and urban areas. He termed it a boon for Bihar’s future generations.

With this initiative, students across all districts in Bihar will have access to quality education, marking a significant step toward elevating the state’s education system to new heights.
