Row Over Coin and Stamp Honoring RSS, SDPI Slams Government

Insaaf Times Desk

A political storm has erupted after the Central government decided to issue a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honor of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has strongly condemned the move, describing it as a “national disgrace” and an “insult to democratic values.”

Mohammed Shafi, the National Vice President of SDPI, said the RSS is driven by fascist and Nazi-inspired ideology and has consistently worked to divide society on religious lines while promoting hatred and violence. He alleged that the RSS had no role in India’s freedom struggle and, in fact, silently supported British colonial rule.

“Honoring such an organization is a betrayal of the values for which countless freedom fighters laid down their lives. The government must immediately withdraw this coin and postage stamp,” Shafi stated.

The SDPI further warned that glorifying forces that weaken democracy and secularism poses a grave threat to the country’s future.

The decision has already become a subject of heated debate in political circles. Opposition parties allege that the government is using official institutions and symbols to legitimize the ideology of the RSS.

It remains to be seen how the government responds to the criticism and whether this controversy will escalate into sharper political confrontations in Parliament and on the streets.
