A suspected youth was arrested on Saturday evening at Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. The arrested individual has been identified as Shivam Sharma, also known as Shivam Kumar, a resident of Sisoni Prabodhi village in Vaishali district. He was found engaging in suspicious activities near the airport.
According to police, Shivam Sharma was seen loitering suspiciously near the arrivals terminal of the airport. Authorities recovered a fake identity card of the Indian Army, another fake ID linked to the Ministry of Home Affairs, documents related to Indian Mujahideen in Jammu and Kashmir, and other objectionable materials from his possession. His mobile phone also contained images of people with the Pakistani flag. Additionally, a motorcycle, two mobile phones, a military green bag, a medical pouch, and a motorcycle key were seized.
During interrogation, Shivam Sharma admitted to creating the fake identity documents at home using a laptop and printer. He also claimed to possess a navy uniform. The police have registered a case against him under Sections 318(4), 319, 336(3), and 338 of the Indian Penal Code. Security agencies are investigating his activities and intentions.
The Patna Airport Authority has informed the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) about the case. Security agencies are probing the matter, taking its seriousness into account. Officials have noted that the incident indicates a lapse in security arrangements, and stringent measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
This arrest raises questions about the security arrangements at Patna Airport. While police and security agencies are investigating, the incident highlights the need for vigilance and stronger document verification systems within security agencies.
