Delhi Government Prepares Free Coaching for Dalit Students for IAS, JEE, NEET Exams, Learning from Previous ‘Jai Bhim’ Scheme

The BJP government in Delhi is preparing to roll out a major educational initiative for Dalit students in the capital. The government is working on a welfare scheme under which meritorious Dalit students will receive free coaching for IAS, JEE, NEET, and other prestigious competitive examinations.

According to sources, the objective of this scheme is to ensure that no talented student is deprived of opportunities due to financial hardship. The proposed plan would not only cover tuition fees but may also provide students with a stipend and study materials.

It is worth noting that in 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party government had launched the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana, aimed at providing free coaching to economically weaker Scheduled Caste (SC) students. However, the scheme later ran into allegations of financial irregularities and payment delays, and eventually came to a halt. The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) is currently investigating alleged multi-crore scams linked to the program.

Officials say the new initiative will be designed to avoid the pitfalls of the past. Strict standards for the selection of coaching institutes, online verification of students, and independent audits are expected to be built into the system to ensure transparency and accountability.

According to sources, SC/ST Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraraj Singh has instructed the department to prepare a detailed framework. The finance and law departments will also be consulted to make the scheme legally and administratively sound. The government is keen to finalize the plan soon and make a formal announcement.

For Dalit students in the capital, the scheme could prove to be a major opportunity in their educational and career journey. However, its success will ultimately depend on how transparently it is implemented and how effectively it reaches genuine beneficiaries.
