Political activity in Bihar’s Seemanchal region has intensified ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi arrived in Bihar on Tuesday and is set to launch his much-publicized “Seemanchal Nyay Yatra” from Wednesday, September 24.
The yatra will cover all four districts of Seemanchal — Araria, Purnea, Katihar, and Kishanganj. It will begin from Rui Dhansa Maidan in Kishanganj, where Owaisi will be accompanied by state party president and MLA Akhtarul Iman along with other senior leaders.
Party spokesperson Adil Hasan said that during the yatra, Owaisi will hold public rallies, meet local people, and participate in organizational meetings. “Both the Mahagathbandhan and NDA have neglected Seemanchal, but AIMIM has entered the field to ensure justice and development for its people,” he asserted.
In the last Assembly elections, Owaisi’s party made significant gains in the region, winning five seats. However, four of its MLAs later defected to the RJD. This time as well, AIMIM tried to forge an alliance with the Mahagathbandhan but received no response.
With Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Rights Yatra and Tejashwi Yadav’s Bihar Adhikar Yatra already completed, Owaisi’s entry through the Seemanchal Nyay Yatra is expected to give the region’s politics a fresh twist. In this Muslim-majority belt, where AIMIM already enjoys a strong base, all eyes are now on how Owaisi’s campaign reshapes the electoral landscape.
