Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Purnea on Monday, where he inaugurated the new airport terminal and unveiled several development projects. Meanwhile, Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Prime Minister and the central government through a video posted on social media, raising a series of pointed questions.
Tejashwi said that just a few kilometers from the rally venue, dilapidated roads, teacherless schools, and crumbling health centers expose the real picture of Bihar. Sharing a video of Purnea Medical College (GMCH), he highlighted how patients are forced to share a single bed and how the hospital suffers from a severe lack of basic facilities.
He alleged that each of the Prime Minister’s rallies costs a poor state like Bihar nearly ₹100 crore. “If this money were instead spent on building school boundary walls, toilets for girls, medicines and staff for health centers, the people of Bihar would benefit far more,” he remarked.
Tejashwi also questioned the event arrangements, claiming that during PM visits, teachers are pulled out of classrooms and made to act as conductors, while Jeevika didis, ASHA and Mamta workers, and anganwadi helpers are compelled to gather crowds.
Reminding the Prime Minister of his promise made 11.5 years ago in Purnea to grant Bihar special category status, Tejashwi asked: “What happened to that promise? Will the people of Bihar once again be sold lies and slogans before elections?”
He further mocked BJP leaders for repeatedly raising the issue of “jungle raj,” accusing them of trying to divert attention from the failures of the Centre and the NDA government. “But now the people of Bihar know the reality,” he asserted.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi said that the Purnea airport and other projects would take northeastern Bihar to new heights of development. The government claimed that schemes worth around ₹40,000 crore would significantly improve connectivity and economic activities in the region.
