Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections, SDPI Steps Up Political Activity in Two States, Intensifies Electoral Strategy from Bengal to Tamil Nadu

As the 2026 Assembly elections approach, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has stepped up its organizational activity across states, from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu. The party recently held two significant conferences in Baharampur (Murshidabad) and the Rameshwaram–Thiruvarur assembly constituencies to outline its electoral strategy.

In West Bengal, the State Committee organized an “Assembly Leaders Conference” at the District Council Conference Hall in Baharampur. State President Haqiqul Islam inaugurated the program by hoisting the party flag, followed by a welcome address by State General Secretary Dr. Kamal Bashirruzzaman.

The conference’s keynote speaker, SDPI All India General Secretary Elyas Mohammed Thumbe, delivered a detailed, data-driven presentation on the party’s ideology, objectives, and growing mass base across the country. Thumbe stated, “Today, most political parties work in the interests of the capitalist class, whereas SDPI remains the only political force striving to bring marginalized communities into the mainstream and establish genuine social democracy.”

State President Haqiqul Islam and National Secretary Tayedul Islam analyzed the country’s current political, social, and economic conditions, raising questions about the policies of major parties.

State General Secretary Hasibul Islam launched a strong attack on the ruling authorities ahead of the elections. He alleged, “In the state, unqualified leaders are deliberately being placed in power, leading to increased corruption and neglect. Minority, Christian, Dalit, and tribal communities are being systematically pushed to the margins.” He emphasized, “The time has come to remove TMC’s unqualified and corrupt leaders from power and send SDPI’s capable leadership team to the Assembly.”

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks from Shabnam Mustari. During a simultaneous press conference, party leaders leveled serious accusations against the government regarding education, healthcare, and the SIR process in voter lists. Haqiqul Islam stated, “The state government is privatizing healthcare and dismantling public medical infrastructure.” He also demanded immediate recruitment to address the severe shortage of teachers in thousands of schools.

In Tamil Nadu, booth-level BLA-2 conferences were held with enthusiasm in the Rameshwaram and Thiruvarur assembly constituencies. State President Nellai Mubarak, the chief guest, addressed the conference, emphasizing that strengthening the party at the booth level is key to electoral success.

State Vice President Abdul Hamid, A.S. Umar Farooq, State General Secretary Nizamuddin, Ahmed Nawawi Abubakar Siddiq, and several other leaders also shared their views. A large number of booth-level workers attended, and a concrete action plan for upcoming electoral activities was prepared.

The extensive Assembly Leaders Conference in West Bengal and the booth-level preparations in Tamil Nadu indicate that SDPI is gearing up to contest the 2026 Assembly elections with full force. The party aims to strengthen its organization, expand outreach to marginalized communities, and intensify its anti-corruption narrative.

With the political temperature rising for 2026, SDPI is now openly playing its cards on the electoral battlefield.
