Crime in Bihar has once again become a central issue—politically as well as administratively. In this atmosphere, the state’s new Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has sent a strong message to criminals through an assertive statement. He declared, “To establish good governance, strict and concrete action will be taken against rogue criminals. No one will be spared.”
The Home Minister emphasised that the model of “good governance” under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will continue, and the state’s law-and-order situation will be strengthened at any cost. He added that under the leadership of the BJP and the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Home Department, and he will execute this role with complete strictness.
Choudhary further declared, “Bihar is not a place for criminals. They will have to leave the state. Good governance has always eliminated anarchy, and this system will continue.”
When asked whether the “UP model” of policing would be implemented in Bihar, he responded that Bihar already maintains a tough stance on law and order and there is absolutely no room for criminals here. He reiterated, “Criminals must understand that there is no space for them in Bihar. They will have to leave the state.”
Two Back-to-Back Encounters Seen as Policy Signal,Reacting to the recent police–STF operation in Begusarai, Samrat Choudhary made it clear that the government is in no mood to spare anyone who violates the law.
During a raid in the Malhipur–Shaligrampur region under Sahebpur Kamal police station, firing broke out between dreaded criminals and security forces. In the retaliatory action, one criminal sustained bullet injuries and is undergoing treatment in hospital.
Two days earlier, an encounter in the Teghra area had also resulted in a criminal being injured. The back-to-back operations are being seen as a clear signal of the government’s aggressive crime-control policy.
After the Begusarai incident, the Bihar Police shared details on social media platform ‘X’, informing that a large cache of illegal weapons and other materials had been recovered during the operation. The seizure includes:

1 semi-finished pistol
7 magazines
₹3,70,000 cash
970 bottles of illegal cough syrup
Firearms manufacturing materials and equipment
From Samrat Choudhary’s very first statement, it is evident that the government is in an aggressive mode on the law-and-order front. Clear directives have been issued to officials not to show any leniency in action against criminals.
While political circles are calling this a “comeback of good governance,” the police department also appears to be in an active and high-alert mode.
