Following the crushing defeat of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, internal tensions within the party have escalated. Discontent is now openly directed against Rajya Sabha MP and close aide of Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav.
On Wednesday, dozens of party workers gathered outside the RJD state office, burning effigies of Sanjay Yadav and demanding his removal from the party. Protesters chanted slogans such as “Sanjay Yadav Bhagao,RJD Bachao” and “Sanjay Yadav Go Back.”
Party worker Prithviraj Chauhan alleged, “Due to Sanjay Yadav and Sunil Singh, the party suffered losses in the elections. They must be removed.”
Dharmendra Yadav warned that protests would continue until Sanjay Yadav was removed, asserting, “Bihar will be run by Biharis, not Haryanvis.”
Rohini Acharya, RJD chief Lalu Yadav’s second daughter and former candidate from Saran Lok Sabha seat, also accused Sanjay Yadav of hijacking the party and creating divisions within the family. Tej Pratap Yadav has repeatedly called Sanjay Yadav a “Jaichand,” accusing him of making crucial party decisions unilaterally.
The protest highlights the growing dissatisfaction within RJD and the simmering tensions among its leaders.
