Jan Suraj Strategist Takes Responsibility for Bihar Election Defeat, Prashant Kishor Announces Hunger Strike on November 20

Jan Suraj Party mentor Prashant Kishor on Tuesday held a significant press conference at the Patliputra Camp office in Patna, where he took full responsibility for the party’s defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. Kishor stated, “We were unable to bring the system-level changes we promised. The responsibility for this failure rests entirely on my shoulders.”

Addressing party workers and supporters, he said that despite the defeat, it was a time for introspection. He also announced that a one-day collective hunger strike would be held on November 20 at the Bhathiharwa Gandhi Ashram.

Commenting on the election results, Kishor said, “We did not receive the votes, but not getting votes is not a crime. We have committed no wrongdoing.” He emphasized that while Bihar’s politics has traditionally revolved around caste and religion, the Jan Suraj Party focused on issue-based politics.

When asked if he would now quit politics, Kishor replied, “In the Mahabharata, Abhimanyu was encircled and killed, yet victory ultimately went to the Pandavas. We are not leaving Bihar. The work we have done over the past three years will now be doubled. Retreat is not an option.”

During the press conference, Kishor also criticized the state government, alleging that it distributed ₹10,000 each to around 60–62 thousand women in every constituency, with a promise to provide an additional ₹2 lakh within six months. He claimed that ₹29,000 crore were disbursed through JEEVIKA didis, ASHA, and Mamta workers.

Kishor warned that if the government fails to fulfill its promise within six months, the party would release the full list and provide assistance to the public at 9121691216.

The press conference was attended by several senior party leaders, including State President Manoj Bharati, senior leaders Prof. K.C. Sinha, Y.V. Grey, MLC Afaq Alam, State General Secretary Kishor Kumar, senior leader Subrahm Singh Kushwaha, Ram Bali Singh Chandrashi, Vinita Mishra, and Media In-Charge Obaidur Rahman.
