A strong protest was held today in Patna under the banner of the All India Progressive Forum (AIPF) against the criminal war led by U.S. President Donald Trump on Venezuela and the brutal bombing in its capital, Caracas. A large number of people participated in the rally, raising slogans such as “Unwavering Solidarity with the People of Venezuela,” “Hands off Venezuela,” and “Down with American Imperialism.”
The protest was chaired by AIPF convenor Kamlesh Sharma. Speakers at the event included Khegrams General Secretary Dhirendra Jha, social activist Gopal Krishna, MLC Shashi Yadav, farmer leader Shambhu Nath Mehta, Kumar Parvez, Divya Gautam, AISA leader Saba Afrin, and former MLA Gopal Ravidas.
The speakers said that the U.S. attack is not only against Venezuela but also a warning to all nations and peoples striving to determine their future independently of imperialist powers. They drew parallels with the invasion of Iraq under false pretexts, stating that the same strategy is being repeated today against Venezuela’s democratically elected President Nicolas Maduro.
They highlighted that the U.S. administration is using the pretext of “narco-terrorism” to legitimize the plundering of Venezuela, which possesses the world’s largest oil reserves. The war, they said, serves the interests of multinational U.S. corporations, aimed at seizing control of Venezuela’s oil and establishing a puppet government.
Concern was also expressed over the Indian government’s silence on this criminal act. Speakers demanded that the Indian government immediately condemn the U.S. aggression and adopt a clear stance in support of Venezuela’s sovereignty.
The event was attended by senior CPI–MALÉ leader K.D. Yadav, Kisan Sabha leader Umesh Singh, social activists Pankaj Shwetabh and Sunil Kumar, Patna city secretary Jitendra Kumar, Shahzade Alam, Dr. Prakash Kumar, Afsha Jabeen, Puneet Pathak, Ashutosh Kumar, Pramod Yadav, Murtaza Ali, Anay Mehta, Rakhi Mehta, Sanjay Kumar, and many others.
Speakers also emphasized that this U.S. attack is a continuation of a long history of intervention and power grabs in Latin America and the Caribbean. From Guatemala to Chile and Grenada to Panama, they said, the U.S. Empire has historically deprived countries in the region of their sovereignty and right to self-determination under the Monroe Doctrine.
The protest concluded with a call for all democratic and peace-loving forces worldwide to unite against this imperialist aggression and neo-colonial attempts. Participants held posters and placards, demonstrating their solidarity with Venezuela and firmly rejecting U.S. interference.
