Prashant Kishor, founder and strategist of the Jan Suraj Party, on Friday held a press conference in Patna where he made serious allegations of corruption, fraud, and benami (unnamed) property against five senior leaders of Bihar’s ruling NDA coalition. Kishor directly targeted Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Minister Mangal Pandey, Minister Ashok Chaudhary, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and state BJP President Dilip Jaiswal.
Kishor revealed that ₹2.12 crore was deposited in the Punjab National Bank account of Health Minister Mangal Pandey’s wife, Urmila Pandey, during 2019–2020. He questioned how such a large sum reached her account when the minister had reportedly borrowed ₹25 lakh from his father to purchase a flat in Delhi, and why it was not declared. Kishor warned that if the minister did not respond, the party would submit this information in court.
Regarding Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Kishor alleged that he provided false information about his educational qualifications and age in his election affidavits. According to Bihar School Examination Board records, Chaudhary had failed his matriculation, but in his affidavit, he claimed to have passed the seventh grade. Kishor sarcastically questioned how Chaudhary obtained a D.Litt. degree without passing matriculation.
On JDU leader and Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Kishor accused him of acquiring benami property and collecting funds through a trust. He stated that Chaudhary purchased 23 kattha of land in Bikram, Patna, in the name of his PA and later transferred it to his daughter Shambhavi Chaudhary. Kishor added that over ₹200 crore in assets were acquired through the Human Vaibhav Vikas Trust, involving accounts of senior bureaucrats and trust-associated individuals.
Regarding BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, Kishor alleged that construction of a flyover in Bettiah was delayed for 10 years due to his family’s petrol pumps. He further accused Jaiswal of financial irregularities worth crores through fake bills for municipal cleaning vehicles and claimed that Jaiswal had threatened him, to which he responded, “Even in seven lifetimes, you won’t be able to touch me.”
Prashant Kishor also accused BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal of pressuring police to protect an accused and suppress a murder case. He added that the Jan Suraj Party, along with the victim’s family, has filed a separate case in the High Court regarding the matter.
These allegations by Prashant Kishor have intensified the political atmosphere in Bihar. He warned that if these leaders fail to respond, the party would file a case in court with evidence. With assembly elections approaching, these revelations are likely to further heat up the state’s political scenario.
